Our special month on African women in football starts with a celebration of Fatma Samoura.
Senegalese woman, 56, former diplomat who worked with the United Nations for many years, defied all odds to be made the number one administrator of world football - General Secretary of FIFA in May 2016.
Fatma Samoura is the first African to occupy this position, and the first woman ever.
Bringing her wealth of experience in international matters into football, leading a workforce of over 400 in FIFA House, and still being able to combine the hectic schedules with being a mother and a wife, we can not but celebrate her.
A trailblazer amongst women, certainly she will provide inspiration for others who want to aspire to better their lives, using football.
Today’s AFWIP - Fatma Samoura - a true Pride of Africa.
